(NASDAQ: XLNX), the leader in adaptive and intelligent computing, today announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Solarflare Communications, Inc., a privately-held company based in Irvine, Calif.Solarflare is a leading provider of high-performance, low-latency networking solutions for customers spanning fintech to cloud computing. By combining Xilinx's industry-leading FPGA, MPSoC and ACAP solutions with Solarflare's ultra-low latency NIC technology and Onload? application acceleration software, the acquisition will enable new, converged SmartNIC solutions, accelerating Xilinx's "data center first" strategy and transition to a platform company.Xilinx became a strategic investor in Solarflare in 2017, and the companies have been collaborating on advanced networking technology for the past two years.
