According to a report on the official portal of the People's Government of Henan Province, Zhengzhou Customs conducted an environmentally sound disposal of 20,000 counterfeit central control integrated circuits for household passenger cars in Xinxiang City on April 23. The total value of the seized goods was 7.04 million yuan. This operation marks the largest-scale destruction of infringing goods carried out by Zhengzhou Customs in recent years.

The report indicated that these integrated circuits are used in vehicles to prevent short circuits caused by instantaneous current overload during ignition. An official from Zhengzhou Customs emphasized the severe dangers of counterfeit automotive components, stating that if such goods were to enter the market, they would pose significant risks to consumer safety and property.

Previously, during an inspection of a batch of exported central control ICs for passenger cars branded "Texas Instruments," Zhengzhou Customs officials identified suspected counterfeits. After liaising with the trademark owner, Texas Instruments Incorporated of the United States, it was confirmed that the goods infringed upon the company's exclusive trademark rights, which are registered with the General Administration of Customs. Zhengzhou Customs subsequently seized the goods in accordance with the law and imposed administrative penalties on the company involved.

This case is recognized as the infringement case with the highest value handled by Zhengzhou Customs in recent years and has been listed by the General Administration of Customs as a typical case of intellectual property rights protection by Chinese customs.

The presence of counterfeit and substandard components is met with widespread disdain within and beyond the industry. Rogue vendors persistently invent new excuses to sell fake products, making it difficult for purchasers to guard against them and inflicting direct or indirect substantial economic losses on many small and medium-sized end manufacturers.
